30MM // The central theme of the work 30MM is the colour in relationship to form and its relationship to space. The starting point with the practically untreated steel objects is usually to make observations of everyday items which are isolated from their context by means of a process of abstraction. In this, neither the function or the emotional content of these things nor the material consistency or haptic quality has any meaning. 30MM allows the viewer to see the structures of real things on the basis of contour lines in an objective context. By virtue of the lack of colour, the degree of abstraction of the objects is increased to a vivid neutrality meaning that attention is drawn to the aesthetic dimension of the forms and their surroundings. 30MM 2017 // 340cm x 210cm steel

30MM // Zentrales Thema der Arbeit 30MM ist die Farbe im Verhältnis zur Form und ihr Verhältnis zum Raum. Ausgangspunkt der nahezu unbehandelten Stahlobjekte sind zumeist Beobachtungen alltäglicher Dinge, die in einem Abstraktionsprozess aus ihrem Kontext isoliert werden. Hierbei ist weder die Funktion oder der emotionale Inhalt dieser Dinge noch die stoffliche Konsistenz oder haptische Qualität von Bedeutung. 30MM ermöglicht es dem Betrachter die Strukturen realer Dinge anhand von Umrisslinien in einem objektiven Zusammenhang zu sehen. GRAND CASE // By working with the basics of painting, geometrically abstract forms are formed by colours, which converge and overlap on the surface of the canvas. If, at first glance, the work has a disorganised and diffuse effect, closer inspection reveals its divisions, recurring structures and strict contours. The decisions taken during the painting process are often spontaneous and open, although the tension-rich picture compositions arise from ordered, procedural and serial work-flows. The works created in 2016 are concerned with a “back there” and an “in-between”; they neither illustrate nor display anything, and they avoid any approach to a form of content. They are dense, powerful images from monochrome, intensive colours, which avoid any picturesque impression and display the desire for a purely aesthetic quality. GRAND CASE // Durch die Beschäftigung mit den Grundlagen der Malerei entstehen geometrisch abstrakte Formen durch Farben, die auf der Oberfläche der Leinwand zusammentreffen und sich überlagern. Wirken die Arbeiten auf den ersten Blick ungeordnet und diffus, erkennt man bei genauerer Betrachtung ihre Gliederung, wiederkehrende Strukturen und strikte Konturen. Die im Malprozess getroffenen Entscheidungen erfolgen oft spontan und offen, obwohl die spannungsreichen Bildkompositionen in geordneten, prozesshaften sowie seriellen Arbeitsabläufen entstehen. Bei den 2016 entstandenen Werken geht es um ein Dahinter und ein Dazwischen, sie illustrieren nichts, bilden nichts ab und vermeiden jegliche Annäherung zu einer Inhaltlichkeit. Es sind dichte, kraftvolle Bilder aus monochromen, intensiven Farben die einen malerischen Eindruck vermeiden und die Lust an rein ästhetischer Qualität aufzeigen. At first glance, the framework appears to be sculptural, yet also consist of all elements essential to paintings - structure, form and colour. Playground interacts with the space, its boundaries and enables multi-leveled interpretations. Simultaneously, the work is easy to grasp, playful and open to suggestions and changes from the outside. Hence, Playground can be arranged and showcased in a multitude of ways. The form of the artwork is not constructive, but a deflection of perception as well as an observation of the environment. PLAYGROUND // Die Arbeit Playground besteht aus monochrom farbigen Stahlkonstruktionen. Auf den ersten Blick wirken die Rahmen skulptural, beinhalten aber zugleich alle essentiellen Elemente der Malerei – Struktur, Form und Farbe. Playground agiert mit dem Raum, dessen Grenzen und ermöglicht eine Auseinandersetzung auf vielen Ebenen. Gleichsam ist das Werk leicht zu erfassen, verspielt und bleibt offen für Anregungen und Veränderungen von außen. Demnach kann Playground auf verschiedenste Art arrangiert und gezeigt werden.
